Merry Christmas!!!!

Sorry about my blah..... Blog the past couple of weeks. I have been a busy little bee these last couple of weeks with work, practice, x-mas shopping, and all of the other daily things we have to do. But I will definitely make this blah blog a booming blog at the beginning of the year. Have some great things that I've been working on behind the scenes that I will release at the beginning of the year. So until then, I would love to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!

See ya in 2010!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I'm grateful for lots of things......... I'm grateful that we have learned all of the choreography for VSP 2 (Step plus abs). Now the crew and I are fine tuning everything. I also have a "little" surprise in VSP 2, but I will reveal it when we do the shoot. So right now we are just practicing, practicing, and practicing. The good news is that all of this is schedule around the holidays so we must keep ourselves in check with our holiday indulgences. I encourage everyone else to do the same. The best thing to do is to decide what you want to splurge on and what you are willing to give up to get it. I'm eating sweet potato pie but not cake! No cake for me--- be it red velvet or Italian cream cheese ( my favorites)--- I will not eat you this Thanksgiving, holla at you on X-mas.

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your family, food, and don't forget fitness!

Last to Go x2 --- ABS!

I'm finish with all of the step choreography for VSP 2. Only thing left is my 10 minute ab workout. I put x2 because my abs are my problem area. Whenever I lose weight, my abs are the last to go. But ironically, when I gain weight they are the first to come. I think first to come should be first to go. Fat abs you have had enough time at the party. It is time to go!
Well, I decided to do some research on how to get rid of the spare tire. Here is what they had to say:

3 Steps:

1. 90% of getting rid of the spare-- Diet. Low % body fat can reveal the six pack. High protein, low carb/ low fat. No refined carbs--- cakes, cookies, etc..... (Ugh....My favorite-- I think this is my problem)

2. 9% of getting rid of the spare--- Cardio/Resistance Training.
Cardio-- Interval training is the best. If you need quick results like me-- double up cardio workouts for 30 days is another good way to lose the spare.
Resistance training-- weights, bands, etc... on alt. days

3. 1% -- Training the abs-- Crunches. Don't kill yourself doing 100 or more crunches and expect a six pack. Not going to happen if you don't have the diet, cardio, and resistance training.

So I'm off now to develop 1% of six pack routine. Already have 9% of cardio intervals. The rest is up to THE DIET................. Wish me good Luck!

VSP 2 Coming Along

Quick check-in on our progress:

We had an awesome practice this weekend. We have all on the combos and power parties down! I'm still working on the warm-up and abs. I really want a good fun warmup. I just feel like to warm up sets the tone for the whole workout. So it's taking me sometime to come up with this portion of the workout. But my goal is to have it done by our practice on Friday. Holla!

Cold No! Hot Yes!!!

Training went great this week! Yes! The girls and I have done all of the combos and the power parties. We were sweating like hogs. Necey's butt was wet and I was drenched from head to toe. When I left the gym, I was wet and so cold! I hate cold weather! It was 45 degrees this weekend in Georgia. That is weird and unusual. It usually does not get that cold here until January. But on the flip side of that Vertical Step Party 2 is HOT! You will be sweating up a storm. My plan this week is to work on the warm up , cool down, and abs. And we will have the whole workout done. So stay tuned, I will let you know how my week goes. Everyone have a great week.

Vertical Step Party 2

This week we have all of the combos done. Everyone enjoys the intensity, flow, and movement of the combos. We use every inch of the vertical step. We will be working on the intervals/ power parties/ blasts (whatever you want to call it) this week. I'm really going to wear the girls out this week. I really need to take my training to another level. My training sucked this week. I had a sick child (flu) and that put a monkey wrench in my fitness plan. But all is better now. I pray nobody is sick this week so I can truly get the PARTY started!

We Have Got a Winner!

Here is the crew for the new dvd-- we had our first official practice this Saturday. My fours girls from left to right-- Tamra, Sondra, Lisa, Me, and Cassandra. My son with the soccer ball will not be in the video, he just wanted to be in the pic. All went well at practice and everyone enjoyed the choreography. But one block out of six took them for a loop-- so back to the drawing board on that one. This week I will be working on that one combo and coming up with 6 power parties. I'm also planning on taking my training to a new level-- double up day to blast off some of this fat before we film. So stay tuned for our progress. So what is the new dvd-- we have steps so you guess it ...... Vertical Step Party 2

50 minutes vertical step with Power Parties

10 minutes core/abs

Winner guessing the new dvd:
Paula Southall , KY (Congrats!)

Fit Party Reviews/September Surprise-- Free DVD

Would like to thank everyone for the positive feedback from Fit Party DVD. Here is what some of them had to say:

Fit Party Review #1

I wanted to let you know I really enjoy Fit Party. I loved that you included a separate 5 minunte warmup--I have begun to use this as a warmup for my 5 mile walks, & it helps me get "in the groove" a lot quicker. I loved the step workout, I wished it had gone on--I was amazed at how much you packed into 15 minutes-3 combos & you put them together at the end! I also liked the kickbox workout, I could really feel it in my core, & I don't usually feel that with other kickboxing workouts. I have also done the core/abs & part of the yoga/stretch--I like that both of those can be shortened, I get a good abs workout/stretch by just doing the first half of the workout. I did arms once, & I like the variety of weights, etc. I still have to try lower body & do all of the yoga, I really want to do those soon, they look like fun. All in all, another winner workout dvd! Congratulations & thank you! I will look forward to any future workouts you do (I have one suggestion, I know you like to do something different each time you film, I thought maybe an hour long kickboxing workout with some intense intervals. But, of course, I wish for more step, toning, & hi/lo also!)

Jennifer, VA

Review #2

Arrived Fri 14th.Aug. Nice tape, harder than it looked. Like core and yoga sections. Yoga effective as you do two sets of stretches for the most of the routine which allows the muscles to lenghten. Done yoga for over 20yrs. Step effective, short and sweet done at 8ins. kickbox nice low impact section. Weights easy to up cardio benefit by adding simple compound exercises. What took the biscuit (gave me a smile) was "I pray durning the PLANKS!" You need to as Core is effective. On this section GOD =GO out and Do it otherwise "Grit yer (your) teeth" and endure the discomfort. Count equal on both sides. Like this one alot.

Sylvia, UK

Review #3

I just had to write to tell you I did the Kick Party, Upper Body Party, CoreParty, and Yoga Party yesterday and absolutely loved each section! Love theformat of being able to either add on to another workout, or string thesections altogether. Each segment is a perfect length and sufficientlytough. :) Today I'll do Step Party and Lower Body Party and I'm sure I'lllove them just as much. :)Thanks for such a quality workout and keep up the good work!

Last Week-- #8 Optimum Health

Hello everyone,

This is the last week to Optimum Health. I hope this program was helpful by helping you make changes to become a healthier individual. I was able to adopt some of the changes myself. I did not do everything every week, but I'd say that I was about 75% adherent to the program. I have decided after this week, I'm planning to start over to Week 1 and try to get to 100%.

Week 8:

Projects:

Review the changes you have made in your lifestyle so far and think about how many of them you wish to make permanent. Develop a realistic plan that you can stick to over the next eight weeks.

Diet:
Think about how you can continue the dietary changes of this program in the next couple of weeks.

Exercise:
Reach your goal of 45 minutes walk 5x week

Mental/Spiritual:
Continue Meditation daily.
Express forgiveness to someone who has hurt you or made you angry.
Reward yourself with beautiful flowers for completing this program. Why not also buy flowers for someone else?

That's all! Congrats on making it to the end of the 8 weeks program. Please continue on moving in the direction of optimum health.

8 Weeks to Optimum Health -- Week 1

Another wonderful opportunity has come my way. I was offered a position as Nurse Practitioner at Savannah Integrative Medicine about 1 month ago. Integrative Medicine is alternative, holistic approach to treatment through healthy living, exercise, nutrition, and supplementations. I love it! I have been reading a book by Dr. Andrew Weil called 8 weeks to optimum health and I like his approach. It is small steps to becoming healthy. I know sometimes the idea of getting healthy and in shape can be overwhelming. So I would like to know if you took it in small steps would people have better success. So I challenge you today to begin 8 weeks to optimum health. You can start this program if you already have a health regimen in place or if you want to start a program. So here is week one:

8 weeks to Optimum Health Program
(I tweaked his program a little bit)

Week 1
1. Practice Meditation 5 minutes a day. Meditation is a focus on the breath-- when you inhale and exhale; where one ends and one begins.

2. Walk 10 minutes a day 5 times this week. If you already do aerobic/strength training add the walk to your current program.

3. Eat at least one serving of fresh broccoli this week.

4. Eat salmon this week ( If you don't like fish try flaxseed) Omega 3's

5. Get Vitamin C 1,000- 2,000 mg day (powder preferred)

6. Buy fresh flowers for your house so that you can enjoy them!

I will list week 2 next weekend. I would love to hear your experience if you are following this 8 weeks to optimum health. I am doing it too, so I will post my experience.

Fit Party Update:

Still Waiting at replicator -- I hope to receive it in 1-2 weeks.

Waiting Game

I'm playing the waiting game right now for Fit Party. My replicator has given me an estimated time of 4 weeks, which this would be the end of July. But I hope and think that they give you the worst case scenario. So hopefully, I will receive it mid July. I will post it on my blog as soon as they come in. I'm working on getting the postal stuff together now. So when I get them, I will send them off ASAP. Also, for my customers that ordered other dvds along with Fit Party, I decided to send off the other dvds so that you would have an opportunity to work on that dvd now and work on Fit Party in a couple of weeks.

I have alot of exciting things going on now. I will blog about them in the weeks to come. I would like to wish everyone a Happy July 4th!

Not So Happy Birthday

My birthday was yesterday, June 25, and it was not so happy. I will always remember that on my birthday my all time favorite performer died. I am a huge fan of Micheal Jackson. He has #3 cd space in my car. I listen to track 6-- Billie Jean and track 8-- PYT (Pretty Young Thing) almost every morning in my car to work. His music was timeless. But what I loved the most about him was his gift of dance. I remember when I was a little girl sitting on our living room floor looking at Micheal's performance and being in such awe. I loved the way his body moved. His movement was like something that I've never seen before. I am deeply saddened. But my mother says, "He's in a better place. This world has given him so much trouble. He can rest now." I will try to remember this, but my birthday will never be the same.

Recovery

I have been recovering since the filming of Fit Party. I did not realize how whipped I was until I went to work on Monday. It took every ounce of energy left in my body to make it through the week. I thought to myself, "Why did I not take the week off after that?" But, I was lucky though with it being a holiday weekend-- I was able to catch up on some rest. I did 3 easy workouts the week after and now this week I'm back on track with my 5-6 workouts per week. I will see Fit Party in it's entirety on Monday. My editor and I will work on it all week. I hope we will have it done by the end of next week. My website is updated with fit party info and we have all of the graphics done. I will post the final cover next week. I'm really excited to get this out. My hopes is for this video to change the way you workout--less can be more.

FIT Party's Filming

Upper Body Party--- Arms sore today!

Lower Body Party-- you will sweat buckets!

Core Party--
Just Pray when you do this section

Step Party--- Party!!!! Mix of athletic step with a little dance (party) in it!

Kick Party-- High energy kick butt workout!

Yoga Party--- Relax, Relate, and Release-- nice easy stretch after that powerhouse workout with some yoga poses.

Fit Party's Set

Fit Party's Focal Point

Fit Party's filming went great! We started at about 1:00 p.m. and was done at 5:00. Alot of footage was 1st tape. The part that I found to have multiple tapes are the sections where I had to talk without music or movement. It's something about the music and movement that puts me in my element.
Shots out to:
Lisa Ridgdill-- Owner Fitness Witness in Pooler, Georgia for letting me use her fitness studio to film FIT Party
Ranel Bentley-- Step Party Girl-- Party 3 series for helping with set design
Kyunnie Shuman/Tesha Shuman-- for videography and keeping me straight
My family-- Keith, Kelsea, Kamden, mom ,and dad for all of your support and help!
Thanks!
FIT Party went so well -- editing time will be shorten! Will keep you posted!

2 WEEKS LEFT

I have 2 weeks left before my FILM DATE! I'm still working on the set-- more shopping today. I've been talking with my mother about the set and she says "What kind of theme are you going for this time?" And I thought about it and the best way that I can describe it is "GIRLY GLAM GYM" I believe that you can have all three and it is going to be very interesting to see the FUSION. I will post pictures after the shoot of the set on May 16 and I would love to know what you guys think of the FUSION. I have my intro down-- I practice it in the car, mirror, and on my camera. I am still practicing my routines daily. I'm going to keep trucking along .......... chat next week.

Will post the step and bosu routine after the shoot. I have not forgot! Just tied up.

3 weeks to Go!!

I have 3 more weeks until the big FILM Day. And still a lot of loss ends to tie. Today I'm going accessory shopping for the set. That is always so much fun for me. I LOVE TO SHOP!! I'm a big Home & Garden TV watcher! I love making a space look different. I'm going to have a blast. After my day of shopping, I will be writing my introduction tonight so that I can practice it before the shoot. I will also continue working on my routines daily to get them JOHNNY ON THE SPOT. This workout as a whole is tough. Yesterday was the first time that I was able to complete it as a whole. It KICKED MY BUTT!! But that is a good thing because I needed my butt KICKED. Lots of work to do so I gotta go.

Have Fun and Be Fit,

So I will announce presale and projected release date in a couple of weeks. I'm still working on getting live video add on programs up. Everything soon to come!!!!!

Creative Training -- Part 2 Cardio

There are unlimited ways to rev up your cardio routines. So I challenge you today to incorporate some or all of the following techniques. First, what can you do is add a little bit more to your video or cardio machine. Here are some examples:

Videos

At the beginning (after your warm up), middle, or end of your workout you can jope rope, do series of plyometrics, do a series of heart pumping floor or step moves, or some balance and fit training with your bosu.

While typing this I got a great idea. I will choreograph these exercises for you next week and try to post them on my blog. So you guys can see exactly what I'm talking about.

Machines

Bike/Treadmill/Elliptical/Stair Stepper
Hill climb-- increase the resistance 4 times one minute intervals and repeat the cycle and you will be sweating buckets. There are two ways to come out of this you can start back from the beginning or work your way back down.

Sprint ride-- alt one minute at a steady pace with as fast as you sprint one minute and repeat the cycles

Elliptical-- you can go forward 1 min and backward next 1 doing sprint or the hill climb

Play with it-- you can play with the times --- increase and decrease, you can play with the resistance-- increasing the intervals--- just challenge yourself. Don't do the exact same workout everyday-- add some spice.

Done with all choreography of Fit Party!! This workout will be very different in several ways. I will go into details later on how this will differ from my previous productions. But I promise to stay true to my fun, easy to follow, sweaty, and feel good workout experience. I wanted to step out of the box a little with this one. So I hope you guys will enjoy it. Just have to organize and pick music and I will be ready to film. I'm getting workout gear today. The hub gave me a pair of nikes for Valentine's Day that I plan to coordinate my gear with them. My film date is set for April 11!!

The Finally of Mr. Munchy

Mr. Munchy does not stand a chance at my house. The final results of the attach plan:

What Killed HIM:

Small protein rich meals

Exercise (when you want to cheat it will get you back on track)

Yoplait

Veges and Fruit

Prayer

Protein Shake

What did not KILL HIM:

Waiting 20 minutes and reevaluating

Eating a small piece of what I wanted ( I only wanted more and more)

What kept him Hanging Over MY Head:
(worked in certain situations)

Gum and the teeth brushing worked after a meal -- you know when you want to end your meal with something sweet. But the snack attack in between meals the gum and brushing did not seem to work. I still wanted something to snack on.

I have my attach plan and I feel more in control of my cravings and food choices. I really think it is because I have a plan. So I encourage you today to get your plan in place to kill Mr. Munchy -----DEAD!

Fit Party Update:

Only I one more section of Yoga Party left and I will be done with all of the choreography. I'm working on music selection now. Will continue to post on my progress.

Mr. Munchy is Dead

I have not tested all of the attach plan, but a few of the ones that I have tried last week worked. What seem to work the best wasn't even on the list. The first day I waiting for Mr. Munchy to arrive and by God he never did. And this seem to be the best strategy of all. So I guess if you have a plan in place he will know to stay away. Later in the week, after I wasn't really thinking about him coming that joker snuck up on me in the grocery store when I saw chocolate bars at the check out. So I decided to do the wait 20 minutes and reevaluate the craving. Well initially he disappear and about an hour later he came back with his cousin. I ended up eating a Balance Bar and a bag of my daughter's M&Ms. So next was the Fruit Strategy-- it worked. Killed him dead. And the Yoplait killed him-- go Bob. And the protein shake killed him. But I make my protein shakes with fruit for sweetness and it worked. I have also discovered that for those Crunchy cravings try raw veges like carrots, celery, and cumcubers. I will try the other attach plan this week and report back whether they seemed to work for me.

I will be working on the last block of Core Party and Yoga Party in next couple of weeks. I start my new old job tommorrow and I'm so excited about a fresh start. My girls and I went out Friday night for some Thai and Dancing. We tore the floor Up!!!!

Have Fun and Be Fit!

How to Kill Mr. Munchy

Is there an effective way to kill those munchies? The sweet, the salty, the crunchy munchies that arrive at some point during the day or that particular week (PMS). I have heard and read of different suggestions that are suppose to kill the Crunchy, Salty, Sweety Munchy. By the way he is part of the fat devil's team. Anyway this week I was watching Biggest Loser and the contestants ask Bob what do they do when the Mr. Munchy arrives? He said "Yoplait" I wonder would that really work. So this week , I'm on a mission to kill Mr. Munchy. I have a plan. But I wonder which attack will work?

Attack Plan

1. Chewing gum
2. Yoplait
3. Eat a small protein rich meal
4. Protein shake/Bar (only 1 -- I love those Balance bars like a snicker and I will eat 2 or more)
5. Wait 20 minutes and reevaluate the craving
6. Just Eat it (smaller portion than what I had plan for) Will this be possible?
7. Brush my teeth
8. Eat some fruit or raw veges
9. Exercise-- walk around if I'm at work or do 30 minute session if I'm at home
10. Pray-- Prayer changes things

I will be testing the following attacks this week and blog about what seemed to work. This is really going to be interesting to see if any of this really works. I encourage you to try it to and let me know.

Fit Party Update

Working on the last Block of Core Party and just Yoga Party left. I will have more time to work on finishing FIT after next week. I will be changing jobs. I will be so glad to go back to my old job. I can't wait. My friends and I are going out to celebrate on Friday-- will try to post pictures of the Celebration.

Creative Training-- Part 1

This year I have decided to post Creative Training on my blog to get you out of your exercise Rut! Creative Training is training in ways that you have not trained before. We all get stuck doing what we did last year. But this year I want you to look at your current program and add creative training somewhere in it. I will be posting different ways to add/change your program throughout the year. In this particular post I'm focusing on strength training. I have lots of videos and workouts that all do different things with strength training. Some are total body, some are split workouts (chest/back. abs, Legs/shoulders, etc.), and some are upper and lower body. How do you put all of these workouts in a weekly routine? It can be a challenge and you could miss out on really getting the most out of your workouts if you stick to the same ones all the time or rotate them wrong throughout the week. So how do we make the best out of our strength training workouts/videos?

1. Group your strength training workouts according?

Total body

(Total Body with an emphasis on............) Lots of instructors like to kill a particular body part in a total body routine and when you do that video make a note that it is a total body with emphasis on whatever body part they killed. Ex. Pump Party/shoulders ( I love shoulder work) NYC/triceps (Kelly Coffey-Meyers)

Split Routine-- Bis/Tris , Chest/Back, Shoulders/Abs, etc. (You can change your split routine by grouping them differently-- Bi/Legs, Shoulders/ Legs, Chest/Abs, etc.)

Lower Body -glutes, quads, calves, hamstrings, inner and outer thigh

Upper Body -- back, chest, shoulders, biceps, triceps, and abs

Compound Total Body (compound exercises)-- working lower and upper body together

Circuit Workouts--- (cardio alternating with strength training)

Ab only Workouts

2. Decide what your goals are?

Tighter thighs--- Lower body

Tone arms-- biceps/triceps/ shoulders

Muscular endurance-- compound exercises

Rock hard core-- abs

One stop shop-- circuit training

Weight loss

Etc...........................

3. Decide what type of rotation you would like to do for how long? I suggest not doing the rotation longer than 4 weeks. Anything longer makes it hard to stick to and boring. Here are a few examples:

1.Total body with an emphasis on abs for 3 weeks-- 3 sessions per week Ab workout everytime you total body Mon/Wed/Fri

2.Circuit Workout for 4 weeks-- 4 sessions per week Mon-Thurs

3.Split workouts for 3 weeks with an emphasis on Lower body-- Mon-- Chest/Back and Lower body workout Tuesday-- bis and triceps Wednesday-- Abs, Legs
Friday-- Shoulders and Lower body workout

4. Total body with emphasis on a split-- 3-4 exercises from your split Chest/Back and 1 exercise from each other body part. 3-4 exercises from Bis/Tris and 1 exercise for each other body part

5. Alternating Upper and Lower Body-- Monday-Upper Tuesday-- Lower, etc.

6. Split with 1 total body exercise

7. Total body x2 with 1x compound exercise

The list could go on and on. So I encourage you to pick a way to train that you have never done before. Step outside of your box. Our bodies adapt and we have to keep tricking it. My
current 3 week creative training consists of --- Total body with emphasis on abs/ cardio 45 mins alternating days--step,kickbox or hi-low,Walk/run (interval workout), yoga once a week. After you are finish with your rotation, measure your results? Muscle strength, tone, endurance, clothes fit better, can see abs, thighs looking tighter, weight loss, and did I like it? See what rotation works the best for you and your body and work from there. So I encourage you to put an identity to your workout today. Look at your workout and name it.

The beauty of fitness is that you can create your own way of training to figure out what works best for you. So encourage you to look at your program and think of ways to add variety to jazz up your program. I know lots of people that do the same thing everytime they exercise. How boring is that? Anyway, let's add creative training to our program today.

Regroup Queen

I know with the New Year here we have placed lots of expectations upon ourselves to adhere to some type of plan/regime---Be it fitness, financial, spiritual, etc. So we start out really great and we have a slip up in the plan and we decide that our plans were unrealistic and we just say forget it. But I'm here to say " Don't give up! " It may take you all year to achieve your goal, but you will never have a chance if you abandon it. REGROUP and start over. I have a perfect example for you. With me training for FIT Party, I have developed a fitness regime for most days of the week. I keep a calendar and I write my workouts and I love to check them off. Well on Tuesday after working all weekend and doing my workouts I was tired as a dog. I could not move my body off the couch. I had those thoughts of I can't stick to the program. I did not work out that night. So the next day I had two choices--- Abandon the regime or keep going. The next day I was energized and I kept going and I did not think about my mishap. I needed to rejuvenate and reenergize. And I'm glad I didn't quit because I have finished Step Party portion of FIT Party and started on Core Party and I have lost 4 pounds!!!! (15 more pounds to go) So I'm here to say just "REGROUP." I call myself the Regroup Queen because if I mess up (which I do) I just regroup.
